Saving Smiles

I announced on Facebook last week that I'm 1 of 17 photographers in California, working in conjunction with Professional Photographers of America Charities and Operation Smile (an international children's medical charity) to help kids born with facial deformities, such as cleft lip and cleft palate, recieve life-changing operations.

I'm setting a goal of at least 10 sessions, to save at least one "smile"!

Please help me reach this goal by sharing my day of "Smile Photography" with anyone you know who's in need of a baby photo? Professional Portrait? BFF photo? (The school year is almost over!) Mother's Day treat?  There's so many fun reasons to help out and recieve a mini-session and a 7 inch print for just $24!  100% of your investment goes to Operation Smile.

Let's do it! Call me or email me today! I'll be saving May 26th for appointments but also have availability between now and then, so whatever your schedule is I'm sure we can find something that works for you.

Check out more about this project at the link below. And keep up with me on facebook.

Celebration of Smiles

Have an amazing day, the sun's out, go grab some!

April Showers

Yesterday the light was so beautiful, I was aching to shoot.  By the time I'd got home and grabbed one of my favorite subjects the light wasn't quite the same. Although, we still had fun playing in the rain.

The Digital Wasteland

{Don't Get Stuck in the Digital Wasteland}

I'm so excited. I just picked up my prints (all 120 something of them!!!) They're not just files made up of digital information in a camera, computer, or harddrive, I made actual PRINTS I can hold, touch and admire even without a computer screen (imagine that). Don't get me wrong, digital photography is wondrous. I was just boasting last night about how great it is that we can have a b&w and color copy of the same image! It used to be an either/or. But, I just have too many images that aren't being enjoyed. They're lost somewhere, on some external harddrive in a digital wasteland, and that's not okay.

It's fun to laugh over a candid just grabbed on your phone and texted to a friend, and facebook is entertainment for hours, but there's nothing like having your images in print form that you can have and hold in your hands.

Prints are a way to honor your photos, your family, friends and your life. I've resolved this year to not let my photography get stuck in the digital wasteland never to be seen again. And, don't even get me started on crashed external harddrives and computers! (sorry if you've experienced this, it can't be fun.)

{above: a little album from my trip to Europe in '99}

I still value my very first personal albums I made when I was really little (clearly they need some attention now, that adhesive is not good...) but they give a glimpse into my world in 1982. Without these albums a lot of the feeling and moments would be lost. I can go through old albums forever...

{above in album my younger sister and brother}

So I'm happy to say I'm following my resolution to have actual prints in my hand every month and not just let them get lost in digital cyberspace. I've convinced myself they don't all have to be edited (the time's not always there for personal stuff) and they don't have to be perfect images, but if they mean something to me; make me feel something, remember something, that's enough. Looks like I need to start a new album. . . So who's with me?

If I can help you make some new images for your albums give me a call at:

I look forward to speaking to you,
Teresa

The Best of 2011

{2011}
For me, 2011 was filled with many beautiful things: people, places and moments.
Lots of families on the beach; gorgeous low tides and Fall skies...

Lots of beautiful little ones. . .indoors and out,
some new babies,
some "Baby's First Year",

and my FIRST! "Birth Story".

There was new LOVE and some Anniversary Celebrations,

some ballerinas,

dance
musicand even some fashion bloggers.All in all, I enjoyed meeting everyone and being a part of all the moments
this year brought to me. Thanks to everyone! I look forward to 2012.

Family of Three

I love this session.

Love the golds, love the soft light and love the dynamic color. Plus, this family was so real, relaxed and just had a lot of fun together. I might be bias, but to me a photosession at the beach just seems like a great way to spend your afternoon.

Why not mix it up and spend the night at the beach, (with or without your favorite photographer ; ). It's good for us.

Hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful, sunny, end of summer weather!

All my Best,
Teresa

Navaeh {north county baby photography}

This little girl is so beautiful, sweet and fun just like her mommy.

We had a super fun cake-smash session and I can't stop cracking up at some of the great looks she gave me while I was photographing her. Happy "Birthing" day to her mommy and Happy First to Naveah. I look forward to seeing the beautiful girl you grow into.
